Definitions:

Kid - a goat under 12 months of age, a baby goat

Doeling - a young female goat under one year old that has not yet given birth

Buckling - a young male goat under one year old

Yearling - goat who has just passed their first year of kid stage and going into their second year

Wether - a castrated male goat unable to reproduce

Billy - a male goat

Buck - male goat over one year old that can breed, uncastrated, most commonly used

Doe - aka Nanny, mature female goat

Boer goat - aka Boerbok, a South African breed of meat goat

Disbudded - a goat that has undergone a specific procedure to prevent horn growth

Weaning - the gradual process of transitioning a kid goat from mother’s milk (or bottle feeding) to solid food
