Breed Characteristics:
Scottish Highland cattle are a heritage breed, known for their sturdy build, long horns, and adaptability to rugged environments. Miniature Highland cows are not a naturally occurring breed but rather a selectively bred version of the traditional.
The miniature version was created through selective breeding over multiple generations, prioritizing smaller genetics while maintaining the breed’s signature hardiness and friendly temperament. Their compact size and gentle temperament make them ideal for families. Their long wavy coats enable them to withstand cold & harsh winters, as well as hot summers.
Mature Height Measurements:
Standard = over 48”
Midsized Miniature* = 42” to 48”
Miniature = 36” to 42”
Micro Miniature = under 36”
Definitions:
