Definitions:
Lamb - a young sheep, under a year old
Ewe - a female sheep
Ram - male sheep that have not been castrated and have the ability to reproduce
Wether - a castrated male sheep unable to reproduce
Castration - a treatment used to limit the production of male hormones, which prevents male lambs from reproducing, removing testicles
Banding - the castration process that is meant to stop male lambs from becoming sexually mature rams, most commonly done by using rubber rings that are slid over the scrotum squeezing the arteries tightly shut so the scrotum drops off in a week or two
Docking - tail shortening
Polled - having no horns
Hair sheep - a sheep with virtually no woolly fibers, sheep that shed their fleeces annually and don't require shearing
